## General Description

The UTSA OSPO will explore how to leverage best practices for open source software to simplify reproducible research; contribute in areas of teaching and learning; and to prepare students to navigate open source culture and community resources.

## Core Objectives

Current priorities include creating a user advisory group to meet quarterly, and creating and maintaining an active software projects catalog.

The UTEP OSPO is part of the [Texas-OSPO](https://texas-opensource.org/) network of Open Source Program Offices across the University of Texas system. Texas-OSPO will act as a centralized resource to offer open source best practices and to provide training and consultation services across its campuses, while connecting a systemwide community of researchers and developers.
