The PSF is the 501(c)(3) that manages the Python ecosystem and language, runs the annual PyCon conference, runs infrastructure for Python, and fiscally hosts many related subprojects.

They’re part of a wider group of language-specific charities, such as the Rust Foundation or the PHP Foundation.
