General Description#

Since 2022, ISGlobal has delivered services to promote and enable open source practices within its institution. This work is based in Digital Innovation within its TTO.

Core Objectives#

Current services include:

  • Open source licensing guidance

  • License compatibility and dependency risk

  • Decision support on open source versus proprietary pathways

  • Dual licensing and relicensing strategy

  • Research contract interpretation for software and open source obligations

  • Advice on IP strategy that includes patents, startups, and open source

  • Advocacy and policy development inside the institution

  • Bridging open source with open data, open science, and broader knowledge assets

  • Contributor rights and authorship management

  • Training and awareness raising on open source practice (especially in connection with digital and regulatory aspects
